BACKGROUND

Nicholas Pavloff was born in San Francisco and studied painting and photography at California College of the Arts, Okayama University, Japan, and San Jose State University. Since 1968, photography projects have taken him through the United States, Canada, the Pacific Basin, Asia and Europe. His commercial client list has included The Bank of Hawaii, BMW of North America, Chevron USA, Kellogg's, The Mandarin Hotel Group, Microsoft, and Saab Cars USA. In 1983, A Vineyard Year, the first book illustrated by his photographs, was published by Chronicle Books. He is currently producing a monograph of his images from Japan.
